Dear Friends,
The attack this weekend on Israel and the ensuing bloodshed have been awful, heartbreaking tragedies. I stand with my colleagues in the Illinois Legislative Jewish Caucus in unequivocally condemning this deprivation of innocent life.
It is sometimes difficult to move on with our day-to-day activities when parts of our world are in chaos. However, our office continues to be here to serve you on a local level in a variety of ways. Tomorrow, for instance, I’ll be joined by Vision 1948 to celebrate International Day of the Girl and highlight this girls-in-STEM organization to our community. In addition to our photo contest, job fair, and monthly coffee, I’ve also teamed up with Love Purse and area legislators to support victims of domestic violence with a purse and supply drive.
I’m also currently preparing for the fall veto session. We’ll likely be taking up the business of nuclear power reactors, public-private partnerships, and right-of-first-refusal transmission projects. You can find summaries of these issues in our August newsletter, and I’ll make sure to provide an update before the end of the year. In the meantime and as always, please feel free to reach out if my office or I can be of service.
Wishing you and your families health, peace, and safety,
Janet

41st District Happenings
When the House is not in session, things get busier in the 41st district with more opportunities for outreach and community events. Over the past month, some of the events I’ve attended included:
Bolingbrook Park District’s Special Recreation Fair (including a great showcase of rugby wheelchair);
A session with Naperville Environmental and Sustainability Taskforce on Naperville’s Coal Problem;
Speaking with residents of Monarch Landing on our state’s fentanyl and opioid crisis;
Meeting with Noon Whistle and the Illinois Craft Brewers Guild to learn more about legislation to support our local craft brewers;
Celebrating Ganesh Utsav with local leaders and our Hindu community; and
Refreshing and updating my CPR knowledge with a training session sponsored by Naperville Senior Task Force and the Naperville Fire Department.
My office and I are always eager to highlight and learn more about the community groups and organizations that make our district so special. Please send me a note if you’d like me to attend your event or chat with your group about Springfield or district happenings.
